Patient appointments now available earlier, later and on Saturdays – Aspirus Houghton Clinic expands hours

Aspirus Houghton Clinic providers and staff saw a need to make appointment times more flexible to accommodate patients earlier and later in the day. As a result, the clinic has extended its daily hours, including new weekend hours on Saturday.

Effective Saturday, April 18, the new extended hours at Aspirus Houghton Clinic are as follows:

Monday – Thursday: 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Friday: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Saturday: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Aspirus Houghton Clinic Manager Mandy Shelast said, “One of the things our providers and staff make a point of doing is asking patients for feedback, and we heard this request loud and clear. So many of our patients say how they love our clinic, but it would be even better if appointments could be made earlier or later to fit around their work schedules. With our newly extended weekday and Saturday hours, we’re able to provide them that.”

Aspirus Houghton Clinic is conveniently located next to Walmart and Country Inn & Suites. With the new extended hours, patients have the option to schedule appointments before or after work, or during their lunch break while running errands.

Saturday clinic hours further enhances patients’ access to a higher level of care at Aspirus Houghton Clinic. “We can’t plan when we’re going to be sick, and it doesn’t always happen between 9 and 5 on a week day,” said Family Nurse Practitioner Joan Suits. “Our new schedule allows us to be more available to our patients, early in the morning, later in the evening, and on the weekend.”

Family Nurse Practitioner Teri Reevs said she is pleased to help make scheduling easier for her patients at the Houghton clinic. “I can really identify with my patients. Everyone is busy in their day-to-day, whether they’re in school or have a full-time career, and raising a family,” she said. “We have to remember that taking care of our health is a top priority so that’s why we’re here to provide excellent care for our patients when they need it.”

Aspirus Houghton Clinic opened in June of 2014 and since, has been continually expanding with more providers, specialists and now new hours. “This clinic is everything our patients and the community wanted it to be, and more,” Shelast said. “We truly provide a higher level of care and compassion for Houghton and the surrounding area.”
