The effort to add autism as a condition treatable under Michigan’s Medical Marijuana Law has taken a step forward.
The state’s Medical Marihuana Review Panel voted to add autism to the list of conditions that can legally be treated with medical marijuana.
Michael Komorn of the Michigan Marijuana Coalition says the vote was a big victory. Komorn says now parents of autistic children can have some hope because, at least, they can try to see if this will work for them.
The panel’s recommendation now heads to the director of the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, who will have the final decision on adding autism to the law.
Autism would be the second treatable condition added to the Medical Marijuana Law since voters approved it in 2008.
