‘Palcohol’ Ban Pushed

It’s marketed at “Palcohol.”   And it has some parents and others worried.

Essentially, it’s powdered alcohol. Just add water and ‘voila.’   Instant alcohol.

It’s not readily available in the US, but a Grand Ledge lawmaker has launched an effort to outlaw it in Michigan before it can hit the store shelves.

State Senate Republican Rick Jones says powdered alcohol is a “disaster waiting to happen,” as it is very easy to carry covertly and can be transformed into alcohol so easily.

While it hasn’t been approved by the FDA, that agency has said the non-alcohol ingredients were in compliance with regulations.

The bill to outlaw all forms of it except for university and other research, is before the Senate Regulatory Reform Committee in Lansing.
