Youth Hockey
The Copper Country Junior Hockey Association is hosting a Girls Hockey Powerskating Clinic on Friday, October 25th from 6:45 to 8:45 pm, and Saturday, October 26th from 11 am to 1 pm. The clinic is geared toward young women from 8U through 19U. It will be led by former Harvard University women’s hockey player and captain Dr. Colleen Linehan at the HoCo Arena at the Houghton County Fairgrounds.
Linehan has coached Powerskating for more than 20 years, was team captain at Harvard and co-coached with the Mid-Michigan Alliance Girls Varsity Hockey Team.
Girls will need to be registered with USA Hockey and should already know how to skate. For more details and online sign-up, click here.

The Red Wings will host the Rangers tonight. Because of NFL football on 99.3 The Lift, coverage will begin at 7:15 on KBear 102.3.
NBA
The Pistons closed their brief exhibition season with a 108-92 victory over the Cavaliers last night. Detroit’s five starters played just eight minutes each, and 18 players spent time on the court. Simone Fontecchio led the team with 18 points.
The Pistons open the regular season Wednesday at home against the Pacers. Coverage will begin at 6:35 on 99.3 The Lift.
MLB
The American League Championship Series continues tonight, as the Guardians host the Yankees. New York leads that set 2-0.
The Dodgers blanked the Mets 8-0 last night, and took a 2-1 lead in the National League Championship Series. That set continues in New York this evening.
NFL
In tonight’s NFL contest, the Broncos visit the Saints. Coverage will begin at 7:30 on 99.3 The Lift.
The Packers have brought in a new field goal kicker. Brandon McManus will take over for rookie Brayden Narveson, who had missed five field goals in six games this season. McManus spent nine years with the Broncos, and then kicked for the Jaguars last season. He recently resolved a civil lawsuit that had been filed against him that had led to an NFL investigation. The league determined there was not enough evidence to sanction him under the personal conduct policy.
