ORV Fatality

A slippery two-track near Federal Forest Highway #16 claimed the life of a Mackinaw City man Monday morning.

According to the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, Henry Cooley was approximately two miles north of Kenton on Road #1224 baiting deer for the upcoming firearms season, when he lost control of his four wheeler on a snow-covered/slippery hill.  The Honda tipped over, rolling on top of him and causing his fatal injuries.  Cooley was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident occurred at 9:30 Monday morning in Duncan Township.  Federal Forest personnel, the Duncan Township Fire Department, and Sonco Ambulance medical responders assisted on the scene.
