It was open carry at the state Capitol in Lansing Wednesday as gun owners displayed their weapons while lawmakers and the governor revisited the issue of allowing open carry in Michigan schools. All this unfolded while ten school groups toured the Capitol building.
Under the watchful eye of the Michigan State Police, the rally was peaceful and gun owners said that’s the way it is when you have guns in plain view. One demonstrator argued that bad things happen when countries like China and Russia take guns away.
Republican State Senator Mike Green has said he will sponsor legislation banning open carry in schools but allowing concealed weapons.
Meanwhile, Governor Snyder stepped back into the debate saying he’s against both open carry and concealed weapons in schools.
