An Ontonagon man will spend up to seven years in prison after he accepted money for a construction job he did not complete. 46-year-old Bruce Sever was sentenced in Delta County Circuit court Wednesday to between 2 to 6 years on a forgery charge and between 2 to 7 1/2 years on one count of false pretenses between $1,000-$20,000. The sentences will run concurrently. He was arrested in June after he forged and cashed checks from the victim’s account.
