Ontonagon Man Falls Asleep At The Wheel And Hits A Tree

The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a single vehicle personal Injury accident on Lakeshore dr. near 4 mile rock rd in Ontonagon Township.

38-year-old Daniel Bigge of Ontonagon was traveling on Lakeshore Dr. when he stated he fell asleep at the wheel, when he awoke his vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree.

As a result of the collision the Driver of the vehicle suffered incapacitating injury to his leg.

Sonco Ambulance transported Bigge to Aspirus Ontonagon Hospital where he was later airlifted to Aspirus Wausau for further treatment.

The Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by the Ontonagon Volunteer Fire Dept.

The vehicles airbag did deploy and extensive damage occurred to the vehicle.

The Vehicle was removed from the scene by Howies Towing, of Bergland.
