One special meeting tonight, potential for more this week in Hancock

There will be a special meeting tonight of the Hancock Recreation Committee to approve the resurfacing of the outdoor basketball court at Terrace Park. City Manager Mary Babcock says she expects it to last about three minutes.

The question is when the motion will go before Hancock’s City Council. With October starting this Friday, the construction season is rapidly coming to a close. Babcock says there may be some last minute projects needing approval. If those can be locked in, a special meeting would be called rather than waiting for the regularly scheduled session set for next Wednesday.

I have a couple blacktop projects that could possibly be approved and done yet this year.

Babcock says the basketball court was not damaged in a flood or other natural event. It has been in generally deteriorating condition for years and the damage is due to age.
