A new national survey says nearly one out of four women have been sexually assaulted since they started college.
The findings come from the Association of American Universities.
More than 150,000 undergraduates from 27 universities participated, including both the University of Michigan and Michigan State University.
Twenty-five percent of female MSU students say they had been victimized at least once with attempted non-consensual sex.
At the U of M, the figure was more than 30 percent.
The survey also found victims often did not report the incident. In most cases, there was no report because the victim didn’t feel it was serious enough.
But others failed to report because they felt ashamed, or it was too emotionally difficult.
