A house fire in Calumet Township has claimed the life of one woman. Troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post say a fully engulfed structure fire with possible entrapment was reported to Negaunee Regional Dispatch shortly after 4:30 p.m. Sunday at a residence on Osceola Road. Firefighters from the Calumet Township and Laurium Village Fire Departments battled the blaze for over four hours while attempting to locate anyone who may have been trapped in the home. Upon extinguishing the fire, a 63–year–old female was found deceased within the residence. The Michigan State Police Fire Marshal will be investigating the incident with assistance from Michigan State Police Troopers.
