Obituary: Ken Miller

Kenneth Miller, 90, a resident of Mohawk passed away on July 25, 2020 at Gardenview Assisted Living in Calumet.

He was born on March 14, 1930 in Mohawk to Walfred and Saimi (Seppala) Miller. He attended the local schools, and graduated with the Class of 1948. Following high school, Ken went on to serve with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1953.

After being discharged from the U.S. Army, Ken went to work as a mechanic and salesman for Fredricks Garage which was on 5th Street in Calumet. He then went on to work at Parkway Chevrolet for several years, before retiring as a bus driver and mechanic for the CLK Schools in the late 1980’s.

Ken was a marine deputy for Keweenaw County for several years. He was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, hunting, fourwheeling, and snowcatting.

He was a member of the Fulton Apostolic Lutheran Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents Walfred and Saimi Miller, his sister, Joyce Kayfes, and brother, Ted Miller.

He is survived by:
His brother: Clayton Miller of Calumet
Sisters: Betty Taipulus of South Field, MI
Janet Peterson of Houghton

And several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 on Friday, July 31, 2020 in the Veterans Section of Lake View Cemetery with Rev. Laura Eaton to officiate.
