Obituary: George (Bud) Baudino

George (Bud) Baudino, 92, a resident of Hancock, passed away on November 2, 2024 at UP Health System-Portage in Hancock.

Bud was born on November 29, 1931 in Laurium to Peter and Eleanor (Viani) Baudino. He graduated from Calumet High School and then went on to attend Michigan Tech. Bud then went on to help his father start Ace Hardware in Calumet in the early 1950’s. He was also involved in the Calumet Village Council, the First of America Bank Board of Directors, a member of the National Guard Company A 107th Engineers, a lifetime member of the Calumet Elks and a member of Sacred Heart Church.

Bud married the love of his life Janice Tomasi on June 11, 1955. They were long time residents of Fisherman’s Village, Hancock and Marco Island, Florida, where they were avid boaters and cruised the five great lakes and Florida waterways. Bud loved getting to know people and was always willing to lend a hand and help others.

He is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Eleanor Baudino and his wife Janice.

Bud is survived by his two daughters Patricia (Rodney) Mishica and Mary Sue (Peter) Cloutier, two grandsons Chase and Evan Cloutier, three granddaughters Casey (Brandon) Baird, Ashley (Troy) Reuter and Abbey (Mike) Yeo. Eight great grandchildren Olivia, Madelyn, Rylee, Braelyn, Avery, Dawson, Julian and Kellen. He is also survived by his two brothers-in-law Paul and Mike Tomasi and his sister-in-law Lucy McGuire and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to thank the Fisherman’s Village crew, especially Binks Moyle and Bob Nutini for their support and care during these last years.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to Copper Shores Foundation in Memory of George Baudino.

Burial for George Baudino will take place in the spring.
