Obituary: Gary D. Tarvis,

Gary D. Tarvis, 62, a resident of Calumet passed away peacefully on Tuesday October 10, 2020 at his home.

He was born on January 14, 1958 in Calumet to Robert and Pearl (Manninen) Tarvis. He attended the local schools and graduated from Calumet High School with the Class of 1976. After high school, he enlisted with the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam Era.

After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, Gary began working for the CLK Schools. He worked as a mechanic, bus driver, and custodian. He was also the Union President for several years before retiring in 2010 after 30 years.

He had a green thumb and could grow anything. He also loved going for rides and spending all the time he could with his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Pearl, and his brother Anthony Tarvis.

He is survived by:

His sons: Steven (Sherry) Tarvis of Calumet

Michael (Jen) Tarvis of Calumet

His daughter: Jennifer (Tony) Hatala of Calumet

Numerous grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren

His sister: Debora Parent of Green Bay, Wisconsin.

And several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A graveside service with Military Honors conducted by the Copper Country Veterans Association will be held at 1:00 pm Thursday November 12, 2020 at the Calvary Cemetery in Ahmeek.
