Obituary: Anne Marie “Amber” Selden Seavoy

As received from the Reid Funeral Service and Chapel:

Anne Marie “Amber” Selden Seavoy, age 64, passed away unexpectedly at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor on Friday, September 4, 2020.

Amber was born on October 13, 1955 in L’Anse, MI to Clyde (Kelly) Selden and Agatha (Winnie) Auger.

Amber married David Paul Seavoy on August 9, 1980 in L’Anse, MI. Together they had two children Sarah Seavoy and Kelley (Chris) Chaudier.

Amber had many jobs throughout her life. She was a nurse’s aid at Baraga County Memorial Hospital, a bartender at the L’Anse Golf Club and the Finns, a pharmacy tech at the L’Anse Pharmacy and recently tried her hand at embroidering at Lake Superior Design. Through all of her jobs she made an impression on her co-workers and patrons alike. While she loved being at home, when you got her out and about she was usually the life of the party. She was truly unforgettable.

Amber loved to hunt and fish. Her favorite time of year was bird season. Rarely did she allow anyone to hunt with her as it was always a contest to see who got the most birds. Usually it was her and she let you know it! She loved fishing and it never failed- within 5 seconds of finally getting her bobbing stick into the water she was always the first one to pull up a fish. And again- she let you know it.

There was nothing more that Amber loved in life than her family (and the Beatles). She never hung up the phone without saying “I love you” or walked out the door without giving a hug and a kiss. She is survived by her loving husband, David. Her daughters Sarah and Kelley. Grandchildren Stella, Ava and Deegan. Her beloved pets Wila and Lily, Brothers Jim (Georgia) Selden, Ciddo (Sylvia Froechin) Selden, sisters Debbie (Rodger) Cram, Amanda (Jason) Rinkinen, mother in law, Geri Seavoy, brother in law Greg (Fibz) Seavoy, special niece Gretchen (Chad) Denike, her best friend Lori Brooks and numerous other nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Kelley and Winnie, Father in law, Dan Seavoy, her brother Mike McGlue, nephew Rick Drew, great nephew Jerry Lee Niemi, sister in laws Marsha Selden and Linda McGlue, John Lennon and numerous friends that were waiting for her. Surely they’re up there having a drink, reminiscing about the old days. Imagine all the people….

Services for Amber will be held from 12pm-3pm on Sunday, September 13 at Reid Funeral Service and Chapel.

Please remember to practice social distancing.
