The Canadian government has again delayed a decision on whether or not to move forward with a controversial nuclear waste site less than a mile from the shore of Lake Huron.
The Minister of Environment and Climate Change Friday announced a final decision won’t come until March of 2016.
The decision was expected sometime in December.
Earlier this year the government pushed back a decision until after the country’s November election.
The underground nuclear waste storage facility is planned for a site less than a mile from the shore of Lake Huron, across the lake from Tawas City.
Those opposed to the plan say that’s too close to the Great Lakes to store nuclear waste.
