Michigan natural resources officials are considering expanding the state’s hunting season for coyotes.
There are currently two coyote hunting seasons in Michigan, the daytime hunt from July 15 to April 15 and the nighttime hunt from October 15 to March 31.
The Natural Resources Commission is looking to expand both night and day hunting seasons to year round.
Russ Mason of the Department of Natural Resources says the change would allow people to address conflicts on their land, like keeping coyotes from damaging property or attacking local deer herds.
He says the changes also include standardizing the use of lights when hunting, making the rules less confusing.
