Northern Michigan University launches a new initiative to support teachers in developing writing skills and teaching practices. On Tuesday Northern Michigan University announced it has launched the Northern Shores Storytime Writing Project Site to support teachers developing writing and teaching skills, with the greater purpose of enhancing student achievement across the Upper Great Lakes region. The initiative will fall under the national writing project network. Through a range of programs, the Northern Shores Storytime Writing Project Site will provide opportunities to participate in professional workshops, summer institutes, writing marathons, and scholastic art and writing awards. Northern Michigan English Professor Kel Sassi and Native American studies professor April Lindala will act as co-directors on the program.
