The case against a Hubbell man accused of 2nd Degree Murder and Attempted Murder will not go to trial.

43-year-old Paul Moilanen changed his plea to No Contest as part of a plea agreement in Houghton County Circuit Court on Friday.

Moilanen is charged in the stabbing death of 48-year-old Marcy LaVigne of Hubbell and the attack on her 14-year-old daughter, who survived.

A trial was scheduled for later this month.

As part of the plea deal, prosecution agreed not to pursue a habitual offender notice against the defendant.
