State Police at the Sault Ste. Marie Post have arrested an eastern Upper Peninsula man on charges of solicitation to commit murder.

37-year-old Jason Bufford of Newberry was arrested Monday following a lengthy investigation by State Police detectives and is currently lodged in the Luce County Jail.

Bufford was arraigned on the felony charge and is being held on $500,000 bond pending a preliminary examination on March 23. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
