New Traffic Stops in Hancock

The controversial intersections in Hancock are getting another makeover. Back in May, the Hancock City Council voted to turn White Street into a one-way going up and this led to many complaints from residents on Pine and Elevation Streets about the excess traffic from US-41 that would try to take a shortcut to get to Quincy Street. Now the council has voted to create three way stops at the intersections of Pine Street and Elevation Street as well as Pine Street and Scott Street. City Manager Glenn Anderson says the downbound stops are designed to make sure drivers are not speeding through the neighborhoods, which made up most of the residential complaints.

So is this a permanent solution?

The council spoke briefly about the matter before the meeting ended and they understood that it is a fluid situation.
