Michigan has released a new and improved version of the state license plate, because of complaints by police. Michael Yott of the St. Clair Shores Police collected more than 700 signatures in an online petition. He told M-Live that the earlier plates had low roadway viability. The Secretary of State responded and ‘easier to read’ plates are now appearing on cars and trucks. At issue are the plates that included the Mackinac Bridge with a bright orange sunset. The white letters on all of that made it difficult to read. The new version has a yellow-orange background with black letters.
