Snow plows are getting a new and improved lighting system to help with visibility.
That’s thanks to the Michigan Department of Transportation’s L’Anse garage staff who built the first “Superior Stick”.
MDOT says the “Superior Stick” attaches directly to the plow and extends and retracts along with a wing plow blade.
The current lighting system uses hydraulic systems which need more maintenance and adds extra expenses.
This system is meant to increase motorist safety.
L’Anse-based Johnson & Berry Manufacturing has been producing some of the sticks.
