The ribbon has been cut and Barkell Elementary School students have a new playground, equipped with a brand new slide and jungle gym pyramid. Teachers, parents and volunteers came together over the weekend and assembled the playground. Barkell PTO President Tara Packard says the support they received on this project was very overwhelming.
Parents watched as the kids had their first opportunity to test out their new playground.
Packard added that a $15,000 grant from the Kaboom company and the Dr. Pepper Snapple group helped greatly in building the playground as well as the local businesses and community members.
