Republican National Committeewoman Ronna Romney McDaniel is the new chair of the Michigan Republican Party.
McDaniel, a party activist from Northville and niece of Michigan native and 2012 presidential candidate Mitt Romney, was elected by convention delegates on Saturday, holding off two tea party challengers.
In her acceptance speech, McDaniel said she hoped the “uniting would continue” as the party moved on to prepare for the 2016 presidential election.
She succeeds Bobby Schostak as chair. Schostak had held the post for four years.
