New Conservation Offices Get Started

There will be more eyes keeping watch over state lands and waterways.

37 new conservation officers got their badges at graduation ceremonies in Lansing last week and will now spend 18 weeks in field training with an experienced CO before being given their own post.

The Department of Natural Resources had 34 new slots to fill. The other three will fill vacancies on the force.

The DNR is currently accepting applications for its next CO school.
