New Baraga County Sheriff Appointed

Baraga County has a new sheriff.

Undersheriff Rick Johnson has been appointed to the position for the remainder of the current term of office which expires at the end of 2016.

Baraga County’s Prosecuting Attorney Joseph O’Leary’s office issued a statement saying he met with Probate Judge Timothy Brennan and County Clerk Wendy Goodreau earlier today to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Sheriff Robert Teddy.

After the term is over, a successor Sheriff will be chosen by a vote of the people.
