Upper Great Lakes Family Health Center is inviting the community to help them celebrate National Health Center Week.
Several events and activities have been planned for this week at their 11 clinics located in 5 counties throughout the U.P.
The week begins with a cookout at their Calumet Family Health Center today from 11am to 1pm.
CEO Don Simula says health centers started 50 years ago as a pilot project during President Lyndon Johnson’s War on Poverty.
Other activities include blood drives, patient appreciation, a pediatric coloring contest and a community health fair.
