Naming Contest for Michigan Trail

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources has announced a naming contest for a new trail that stretches from Detroit to Ironwood. The 900-mile trail was first proposed by Governor Rick Snyder back in 2012 and will link numerous existing trails to provide both a hiking route and a bicycling route. The winner of the contest will be offered a choice of several vacation prize packages at locations along the trail. DNR Parks and Rec Chief Ron Olson says submissions will be judged on creativity, originality and ability to capture the overall character of Michigan. Deadline to submit suggestions is October 13th. To enter, head to the DNR Facebook page or click here.
