The name of the inmate in the Houghton County jail who recently died is now known.
The Houghton County Sheriff’s Department says 38-year-old James Scott Silvola of Houghton had been arrested Saturday afternoon for felony retail fraud and was unable to post bond.
A corrections officer making his regular rounds found Silvola having medical problems in his cell around 9:15p.m.
Silvola was taken to UP Health System—Portage and then to UP Health System—Marquette where he later died.
