This week, more than 150 high school girls from across the nation who are interested in engineering careers are coming to Michigan Technological University for an intensive Women in Engineering program. Each participant won a $1,000 scholarship to the competitive program, to cover tuition, room and board, and supplies. Participants will spend a week looking at various engineering disciplines—like mechanical, environmental, computer and several others. Activities will include building a bridge strong enough to withstand a simulated earthquake, designing and testing underwater vehicles, and talking with female engineering role models.
