Michigan Tech has announced the recepient of their inaugural Diversity Award. Computer science professor Linda Ott has received this distinction for her work in devoting time to getting more women involved in the computer science field. The award recognizes the accomplishments of a faculty and/or staff member who contributes to diversity and inclusion through exemplary leadership and actions. Associate professor and interim chair of computer science Charles Wallace, who nominated her for the award , says Ott is behind the success of the Women in Computer Science summer programs. Ott says she noticed the decline in women involved in computer science early on and decided someone has to do something about it.
