The Michigan Tech Board of Trustees’ meeting this morning will have a new look. It’s the first meeting for new university president Richard Koubek. It will also be the first meeting presided over by new board chair Brenda Ryan. Ryan is an MTU alumna who has served on the board since 2015. She succeeds former chair Terry Woychowski. Trustee Bill Johnson will serve as vice-chair.
Board members will hear that undergraduate admissions are five percent higher than last fall, but graduate admissions have fallen four percent, and that this fiscal year’s fund-raising goals have been surpassed.
The meeting begins at 9:00 in the Memorial Union Ballroom.
Later this afternoon, a new university landmark will be dedicated. The 37-foot-tall Bernard Family Clock Tower was made possible by a donation from the Bernard Family. Additional funds from the donation have been used to endow a scholarship. The ceremony will begin at 4:30.
