Michigan Tech researchers will be conducting a survey in Torch Lake Township over the next couple of months.
The surveys will be done door-to-door at some residences in the area as part of the project called “Establishing a Vegetative Cap For Sustainable Stabilization of Copper Contaminated Soils In Torch Lake.”
The survey will be conducted by Michigan Tech students and will take about 10-15 minutes to complete.
Participation is voluntary and confidential and the responses will help in designing a better research project for Torch Lake.
Others may benefit from this study because it will help find new ways for growing crops on marginal lands.
These crops will prevent soil erosion and also provide a source of bio fuel with Torch Lake serving as a model for this solution.
