Good news for Michigan Tech–sponsored research is up, according to a report presented at the Michigan Tech Board of Control.
Tech saw an increase of 46% during the second quarter of the current fiscal year compare to the same time last year.
This number includes funds from federal and state grants and corporate and other sponsors. Federal grants up by 40.9%.
The board was also presented with the results of a recent survey that focused on Food Insecurities that was conducted by a committee led by Dean of Students Bonnie Gorman.
Gorman said the health and well-being of students is a primary concern and now that this problem has come to their attention, they are going to do what they can to respond.
Board Member Terry Woychowski announced that his foundation is going to donate $1,000 to a local food bank after hearing the report of the survey.
The Board also authorized its chair and vice chair to finalize the terms and execute a contract with President Glenn Mroz, whose current term runs through June 30, 2016.
