MSU Survey Finds Dip In Consumer Confidence

Michigan residents aren’t as upbeat about their financial situation has they had been, but are optimistic about the future, according to Michigan State University’s most recent State of the State Survey.

The poll found that nearly 58-percent of respondents rate their financial situation as excellent or good.

That’s down from 60-percent in the previous survey.

But, survey director Charles Ballard says while consumer confidence dipped a little, overall numbers are on an upward trend and remain well above numbers seen in the Great Recession.

He says 58-percent also feel like they’ll be in a better financial situation a year from now, compared to just 19-percent who say they’ll be worse off.

The survey of 972 Michigan adults was conducted between October 26th and December 23rd.

It has a margin of error of about three percent.
