Another effort is beginning to repeal Michigan’s recent change in the consumer fireworks law. State House Democrats Andy Schor of Lansing and Dian Slavens of Canton have introduced bills that reinstate Michigan’s fireworks law back to it’s pre-2011 regulations, which prohibited firecrackers and aerial fireworks of any sort. The lawmakers say they introduced the bills after hearing countless “complaints and concerns from local officials and residents” in communities across Michigan. The two bill package specifically would ban aerial and explosive fireworks, which are the chief reason for many residents’ noise complaints and serious injuries. A similar bill has already been introduced in the State Senate by Democrat Glenn Anderson of Westland.
