A man accused of second-degree murder will be back in court soon. Paul Moilanen appeared in Houghton County Circuit Court yesterday and his attorney David Gemignani requested that Moilanen take an independent psychological assessment, to which Judge Charles Goodman agreed. Moilanen is being charged with the second-degree murder of Marcy LaVigne and attempted murder of her teenage daughter. His next court date has not yet been set. If convicted, Moilanen could receive a life sentence.
