Mobile Home Park Regulations Addressed

The state House has passed legislation that would subject mobile home parks to new regulations.

The bill, approved Tuesday, requires more communication between local and state regulators when it comes to things like sewer, sanitation and other issues.

Bill sponsor, House Democrat Andy Schor of Lansing, says the measure is in response to a case involving a Lansing area mobile home park that actually had to be relocated because the sanitation problems were so bad.

The problems followed several citations against the park, although the investigating agencies didn’t work together to resolve the problem before the park became uninhabitable.

The same bill cleared the state House and Senate last year, but didn’t make it to the governor’s desk during the lame duck session.
