MML Seeks Fixes to More Infrastructure

Michigan lawmakers spent a lot of time in 2015 coming up with a way to improve spending on roads and bridges in Michigan.

But cities around the state also want to remind lawmakers that the state’s infrastructure is not just roads and bridges. It’s also water and waste and many other things.

Chris Hackbarth, executive director of the Michigan Municipal League, says water and sewer systems were built decades ago and they’re aging, just like the roads are.

He says they plan to talk to legislators and the governor’s office in 2016 about ways to help communities improve and upgrade their infrastructure.
