The search for a missing L’Anse man has ended. Late Tuesday, at 9:55 pm the Baraga County Sheriff responded for a 35 year old missing L’Anse man, who had not reported into work that day, and had not been seen since the morning of Monday, November 14th. On Wednesday deputies located a stretch of damaged guardrail on US-41 near the head of the Keweenaw Bay. The sheriff and officers with the Keweenaw Bay Tribal Police, located debris nearby, and found oil on the surface of the water in the proximity of the guardrail’s location. At 10:30 am Wednesday, a Keweenaw Bay tribal police diver search the area beneath the water surface, locating a white pick up truck in about 15 feet of water. The vehicle matched the description of the missing man’s pick up. Wednesday afternoon a search for the man’s body continued, after he was not found when the vehicle was removed from the bay. Yesterday morning the search for the man resumed. Superior Search and Rescue used a drone to search the bay from the air. While a Michigan State Police Dive Team located the man’s deceased body in 11 feet of water. The incident remains under investigation, and the victims name has not been pending notification of family.
