Missing Illinois Man Found In The U.P.

A 71-year old hiker from Illinois who had been missing since Saturday, has been found alive and safe in the Upper Peninsula.

John Niesman, a regular visitor to the U-P, became lost in an area near Imp Lake in Gogebic County.

The sheriff’s office announced Thursday that they had located the man.

The release from the sheriff said Niesman was “somewhat dehydrated,” and was taken to a hospital for evaluation.

Niesman has visited the area twice a year for many years, according to reports.
