Missing Hikers Found Safe In The Porcupine Mountains

The Ontonagon County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call after midnight on Saturday morning from a Houghton man telling him that that his wife 3 kids and another adult female were overdue.

He stated that they left Houghton at 9:30am on Friday to the Porcupine Mountains for a day hike.

Sheriff’s Deputy collected information and was assisted by The Porcupine Mountains Rangers, Michigan state Police, Michigan DNR and CERT (Search and Rescue).

A search of the area was conducted by all agencies involved.

The search teams were given some accounts of sightings of the hikers and at approximately 11:15am all the hikers were found in good health.
