The organizers of a coalition seeking to put an increase in Michigan’s minimum wage to a vote are ready to start their petition drive. Restaurant Opportunity Center director Frank Houston told the public TV show “Off The Record” this weekend that they have one-million dollars banked for their campaign. Houston adds the state elections bureau will likely receive their statewide petition language this week. Their goal is to hike the minimum wage to between nine dollars and ten-dollars-ten-cents an hour. Michigan’s minimum wage is currently $7.40 an hour, slightly higher than the federal minimum of $7.25.
