Michigan's Graduation Rate Increases

Michigan’s statewide four year graduation rates were up for the 2014-2015 school year and dropout rates are trending down.

That according to the Michigan Center for Educational Performance and Information.

Michigan’s graduation rate last year was just under 80 percent, up 1.2 percent. And the dropout rate was 9.1 percent, down a half a percent.

Of the 10 school districts with the most students in the class of 2015, all but two improved graduation rates.

State School Superintendent Brian Whiston says Michigan continues to move forward in preparing students for success.

He adds that keeping students engaged and having quality teachers instructing in meaningful ways are key factors in the effort to make Michigan a Top 10 education state.
