Michigan Tech Ranked 2nd in Michigan for Value of an Education

Michigan Tech is getting a nod from SmartAsset, a digital financial analysis company based out of New York.

Tech Today, Michigan Tech’s newsletter, says the University is listed as second in the state when comparing the cost of a college education to graduates’ average starting salaries.

This is the second year that Tech was ranked just behind the University of Michigan.

Overall, 29 public and private colleges and universities in Michigan were included in the rankings.

The website considered factors such as starting salary, tuition and living costs.

Scholarships, grants and student retention were also included.

The results were close.  Tech’s scored an 82.3 while U of M scored an 83.2.

Both top-ranking universities cost approximately $26,000 a year for in-state students to attend, including tuition and living expenses.

Michigan Tech graduates’ average starting salary was $62,800, while the average starting salary of U of M graduates was $58,000.
