Michigan Tech may be known for being black and gold, but it’s their green that is catching the eye of a national publication.
The Princeton Review’s 2015 Guide To Green Colleges lists Michigan Tech among 353 colleges deemed the most environmentally responsible.
The write-ups report on everything from the school’s use of renewable energy, recycling and conservation programs to the availability of environmental studies and career guidance for green jobs.
President Glenn Mroz said the university works hard to make Michigan Tech an environmentally friendly, sustainable campus, and it’s encouraging to be recognized nationally for that effort.
Tech is being recognized for offering free or reduced-price bus passes and a free campus shuttle, for promoting bicycling on campus, for a car-sharing program, and for their dedication to sustainability.
