Michigan Roads and Bridges Getting Worse

A new report out shows Michigan’s freeways and major roads are getting worse.

The Michigan Transportation Asset Management Council’s 2015 Roads and Bridges report shows 84 percent of the roads are in fair or poor condition.

Only 16-percent are in good condition.

The report looks at more than 52,000 lane miles of paved roads in which the state can receive federal money for repairs.

An analysis of bridge conditions shows state and local bridges are “holding their own” despite rising costs and revenue challenges.

The report shows 12-percent of bridges are structurally deficient.

That’s unchanged from 2014.
