The hazy situation around Michigan’s recently-legalized marijuana industry is clearing a bit.
Governor Gretchen Whitmer has approved emergency administrative rules issued by the Marijuana Regulatory Agency to govern the new businesses. The rules lay out new classifications for marijuana producers and establishments where marijuana may be consumed.
MRA Executive Director Andrew Brisbo says the application process for these licenses will begin November 1st, which will give some time for stakeholders to evaluate and comment.
Although voters approved the sale and possession of marijuana last year, many municipalities have been reluctant to allow such businesses because of a lack of procedural guidelines from the state. To see a full copy of the new rules, click here.
