Six Republican members of Michigan’s Congressional delegation have sent a letter to President Barack Obama asking him to reconsider a decision to make county sheriff’s departments give back military gear the feds gave them.
The delegation says the value of the large armored trucks was proven last week when police surrounded the two suspects in the San Bernardino, California shootings.
The lawmakers went on to add that police departments are on the front lines of the war on terrorism and would benefit from keeping the vehicles.
Those who signed the letter include U.S. Representative’s Mike Bishop, Bill Huizenga, Candice Miller, John Moolenaar, Dave Trott and Fred Upton.
